Effect of contraceptive pill weakened by alcohol?

It doesn't discourage the use of smoking and alcohol because it will reduce the effectiveness of the pill. They discourage it because the pill can put you at a higher risk for heart disease and blood clots and drinking and smoking can increase the chances of something bad happening.
