Why didn't the Venezuelan people want Chavez to be their President for life?

Because he's taking reforms too far. He's attempting to help the poor which is fine, but he's doing it at the expense of the middle and upper middle cles. He's already begun confiing some private property and giving it to the poor. He's creating animosity among the populace, driving a wedge between the haves and have nots.
