In the old iorn man comics did tony stark actualy reveal him self like he did in the movie?

my step dad is upset that in iorn man 1 tony stark reveled him self to be iorn man and he brought it up after iorn man 2. i said boo-hoo it made for a better secound movie and he said to bad i'm still upset about it... then he poused and said he never read the comics and if in the comics tony stark reveled him self then it would be exeptible and he would no longer be upset please someone... someone honest tell me if he said he was iorn man in the comics or not to end tyhis befor the advengers or thor or any other super man movie comes out and he has sometin' else to say about the movie and bring up iorn man/iorn man 2 AGAIN, thank you and god bless.
