How can I search all the paintings of a particular artist? Is there a database, web site, journals, catalogs?

Looking for a particular painting and I am not sure of the artist but I think it is from the Maine area. It might be a Homer or a Wyeth but google searches turns up nothing. So I need to be abel to search all the works of artist and just search until I find it.
