How would a doentary or a reality series about a Domestic Violence shelter pan out?
Genre has to correlate with the psychology of the Social Consciousness as it responds to the economy to be successful. During recessions and economic hardtimes, sponsor-based film and TV turn more to comedy and simplistic reasurring family values ideals, like the "Wizard of Oz", Disney films and non-threatening non-intellectual comic teams such as Laure and Hardy and Abbott and Costello during the Great Depression in the 1930's in order to generate hopefulness and money-spending. People during economic hardtimes use TV and film to escape from troubles. I seriously doubt if any serious series, such as the one you suggest, will emerge for about 5-10 years now as the economy continues to "adjust" downwards.
